Harrachov

Harrachov is a must for anyone looking to ski in the Czech mountains. The resort's slopes are geared towards both beginners as well as advanced skiers. There is something for everyone here, for the whole family. Harrachov is also one of the prettiest winter resorts in the country. Besides downhill slopes, Harrachov is also a minor paradise for cross-country skiing. The town is well-known for its ski jumping competitions as well.

Harrachov (pop. 1700, elev. 700m) is located on the western fringes of the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše). At Harrachov's Čertova hora (Devil Mountain), you will find four downhill slopes for all skill levels. Two four-seater ski lifts will take you to the top. A smaller ski lift is operated on the shorter (great for beginners) slope known as "Červená II", and is open until 8pm. For more information, visit the resort's website or its Facebook profile.

As for cross-country skiing, there is a well-maintained trail running along the foot of Devil Mountain. Come here, and you will discover that the Czech Republic is truly a cross-country paradise.

New this year, the Harrachov Card is perfect for making the most of your stay in Harrachov.

Parking is available at the foot of the ski lift and in Harrachov (approximately 80 spots) for CZK 50 per day. Another ca. 100 free spots are located just a little further away, near the sports stadium. The central carpark (500 spots) offers a range of prices: CZK 40 for two hours or 180 CZK for 24 hours.

Despite being a popular destination, the town of Harrachov has not lost its charm, and boasts many old wooden country cottages in which you can find accomodations. You will also find many restaurants, shops, ski schools and equipment rental stations.

Our recommendation: We warmly recommend the Pomi ski school (website in Czech only), which is dedicated to training future skiers. The company also operates the Pomi Hotel (website in German and Czech only), and offers a 20% discount on ski rental and lessons for its guest.
