Jičín
Located 95 km from Prague in the heart of Czech Paradise, Jicín started out as a small, unattractive village at the foot Velis Castle.

Albrecht von Wallenstein, who was in love with the area, invited Italian architects to endow Jičín with architecture that was perfectly in harmony with the surrounding landscape. To this day, the almost two-kilomoter row of Linden trees remain unique in Europe.
The town is dominated by a Renaissance-era castle, and its main square is lined with houses in the baroque and Empire styles.
The castle's east wing currently houses the regional museum. Part of the stables have been adjusted to display 20th-century Czech painting.
