There are more 700! It that isn't proof of the country's cultural richness.

Museums are history. The history of the region, of a nation, a time, experience. But they are also the fruit of various cultures from the four corners of the world. The Czech Republic is a museum in and of itself! A cultural center of Europe.

We here offer a sampling of Prague's many museums. Most museums are open every day except Monday from 9am to 5pm, and have affordable admission fees.

- National Museum (Prague 1). Natural history, history of the Czech Republic. This museum will plunge you in the middle of treasures of the Republic Czech.

 - Museum of the City of Prague (Prague 8). The history of Prague and its inhabitants from prehistory to 1784. Langweil's model of Prague from 1826-1834 (a unique model and the museum's most popular exhibit).

- Jewish Museum in Prague (Prague 1). The museums sells tickets for visiting the old jewish graveyard, the four synagogues (Pinkas, Maisel, Klausen and High), and has a permanent exhibition on the Jewish life in Bohemia and Moravia. If you are more interested, the Térezin Memorial 50 km north of Prague shows both the courage and suffering of Jews living in this ghetto during World War II.

- Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia (Prague 1). This former convent, now part of the National Gallery, is a must-see for lovers of the medieval art.

- Veletržní palác (Prague 7). The former trade fair palace is also part of the National Gallery Art. It houses are from the 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries), and is a good place to learn about contemporary Czech art.

- House at the Black Madonna (Prague 1). Cubism in Bohemia

- Naprstek Museum (Prague 1). The Naprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures has permanent and temporary exhibitions on non-European cultures. It is located in an historical building on Prague's Bethlehem Square.

- Antonin Dvorak Museum (Prague 1). A museum devoted to the famous Czech compositor.

Other museums in Prague: Museum of Communism, Czech Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Decorative Arts.
