When to visit Prague museums for free

Although Prague is still an affordable destination, the cost of museum admission can add up. So we offer a list of how to visit museums and other sights without spending a single crown.

Lesser Town’s Church of St. Nicholas

Churches. Many of Prague’s churches are free to visit. The Church of Saint James on Malá Štupartská street in the Old Town is the city’s second-largest (after St. Vitus Cathedral). On the northwest corner of Old Town Square is the Church of St. Nicholas, a splendid baroque building by Kilian Ignaz Dienzenhofer with an exquisite interior. The Church of St. Nicholas on Lesser Town Square is open during prayer from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. A major work of the baroque era, it is considered the most beautiful in all Bohemia. Near Lesser Town Square, the Church of St. Thomas may be small in size, but its interior decoration more than makes up for it.
