Getting There

Prague by night (photo: CzechTourism)

By air: Prague-Ruzyně Airport is an international public civilian airport located on the northwest edge of Prague. It is the biggest airport in the Czech Republic and in Central and Eastern Europe as a whole. Visit the website for information: Primary carriers which service Ruzyně include: Sky Europe, British Airways, Czech Airlines, Easyjet, Smart Wings, KLM, Air France, Germanwings and several others. Domestic flights from Prague to Brno and Ostrava are operated by CSA Czech Airlines.

By train: Prague is linked to many large European cities by rail. For timetables, click here.

By bus: Eurolines offers a wide range of destinations (for example, Eurolines ). Car-sharing is also available through Spolujizda.

Speed limits:

  • 130 km/h for Motorways
  • 90 km/h on roads outside of town
  • 50 km/h in cities

Penalties are very tough. There is "zero tolerance" as regards driving under the influence of alcohol (i.e. the legal blood alcohol limit whilst driving is 0%). Anyone holding a valid European driving license does not need an international driving license.
