The Weather

Prague is always fantastic, even in winter! (photo: CzechTourism)

December, January and February are considered winter months, the coldest of which is January. Even in the lowlands, the average temperature during January falls below 0 °C. In the mountains, wintertime precipitation usually comes in the form of snow. The lowlands experience both rain and snow during the winter.

During March, April and May, there is a sharp increase in temperatures.

The weather in May and June is often very nice in the daytime, but cools down after sunset. In July, temperatures can sometimes exceed of 30 °C, but the average is around 20 °C. In the mountains, the average daily temperatures are just over 10 °C.

August is still relatively hot, but is markedly drier than the preceding month. The average daily temperatures usually fall below 10 °C around the beginning of October, which is when the leaves on the trees begin to change into a multitude of colours.
