A cafe that is darker than dark
June 1, 2010 - Ever wonder what it is like to be blind. This unusual cafe plunges you into complete darkness. Try ordering your coffee and enjoying a small meal in the dark, served by blind waiters and waitresses.

This unique project, which premiered at the 2006 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, will be open to the public from 10 to 24 June on Prague's Fruit Market (Ovocný trh), just behind the Theatre of the Estates.
Once inside, the roles are reversed. Just as the seeing-impaired or blind must rely on sighted people in their daily life, there you will have to rely on them.
Guests to the cafe see the world as experienced by their guides in the darkness. You will have to listen carefully to their instructions, they tell you where to walk, where to sit, where your cup and sugar and spoon are.
Profits from the cafe are donated to the "Světluška" (Firefly) project, which organizes the event.
