American band Gogol Bordello to play Prague in December
October 2009 - Self-described "gypsy punk" band Gogol Bordello brings an East European sound and spirit to rock music. Check them out at the Incheba Arena on December 11.
Gogol Bordello
Gogol Bordello is a band that has created so much legend around itself, that it is hard to separate fact from fiction. Frontman Eugene Hütz originally hails from Ukraine but has lived in the United States since the 1990s. Other members of the large New York-based band are from Russia, Israel, Ethiopia, and Poland.
The band's music reflects its international make-up, with a heavy emphasis on Eastern European gypsy music, filtered through punk rock. In an interview with NPR, Hütz cites Jimi Hendrix and Parliament-Funkadelic as among the band's main musical influences.
Gogol Bordello plays December 11 at Incheba arena. Tickets are CZK 525.
