Christmas for children in Divadlo Minor

December 2007 -The Minor Theatre has been for years linked mainly with puppet and children theatre. The themes for the productions are thus chosen in a way to attract the child as well as the parent who often enjoys being taken back to his or her childhood memories. For Christmas, there is a special and wonderful performance. Don't miss it!

Puppets and Cristmas in Divadlo minor

The story about Jesus's birth does not change as the circumstances were written down for all times. What changes, however, is the time and thus the people who tell the story to themselves. Every year they give presents and are nice to each other, but because it all happened a very long time ago, many of them have forgotten why they celebrate Christmas. Christmas sweetmeats, fish, potato salad, Christmas carols, candles, decorations,

fairy-tales - but who was Jesus and why was he born?

What will we think about this old story today when we tell it again? Maybe we will found that the people have not changed that much, they still like and dislike each other, and seek answers to the same questions. So even our traditional Christmas story for children and their parents is full of characters evil, cruel, Herodes-like, but also kind, endearing, angelic…

The production "Christmas, or the Story about Birth" is an attempt at contemplation about the importance of the best loved holiday in a year - it is a reflection of its traditional message, but also of very personal human feelings. The nature of our story telling spreads from old folk Christmas plays and Gospels.

Using stage pictures the production creates dreamy, mysterious Christmas atmosphere; ancient biblical history unwinds here from a simple story of Joseph and Mary, supernatural and ordinary worlds penetrate each other to portray hope, suffering, anger as well as happiness.
