Come to See Princess Dresses

December 2009 -  travelling exhibition presenting costumes from Czech film fairy tales has returned to Prague. Last year, the exhibition was held in Strahov Monastery, this year, it will be hosted in the Municipal House in an extended format.

What did Cinderella’s magic dress look like? Was the mouse fur coat really made of mice? And what dress did the proud Krasomila have? The answers to these questions can be found at the exhibition entitled Dressing Fairy Tales. The exhibition presents not only costumes from Czech film fairy tales, but also props, photographs, decorations, scenery and shots from the filming that have never been displayed before.

The organisers of the exhibition managed the almost impossible: to gather a unique costume collection from the 30 most popular Czech fairy tales. These include Cinderella, The Proud Princess, The Princess with a Golden Star on her Forehead, The Sad Princess, The Prince and the Evening Star and many others that were already exhibited last Christmas in Strahov. New acquisitions include The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Long Live Ghosts!, Mr Tau or The Princess from the Mill as well as many others.
