Czech Beer Festival in full swing

May 18, 2010 - It's not too late to head to the Prague expo center in Letňany for a taste (literally) of the best that Czech breweries have to offer - dozens of Bohemian and Moravian breweries will be presenting more than fifty different beers.

Until May 30, Prague will be pouring even more beer than usual, as the third annual Czech Beer Festival is in town. The festival is a must for fans of Bohemian (and Moravian!) beer.

At the exhibition centre, eight giant tents have been set up to serve more than 10,000 visitors. Waiters and waitresses in traditional folk costumes will be serving the beer, as well as traditional specialties such as pickled sausage and bratwurst (for snacks) or pork knee cooked in dark beer (for larger appetites).

To get there, take the red metro line to the last stop at Letňany and it's just a short walk to the PVA Exhibition Centre. The festival is open weekdays from 3pm to midnight, weekends from noon to midnight. Admission is free, beers cost CZK 40 for a half-liter (you will need to purchase the festival's currency, the tolar, sold in bundles of five at a rate of 1 tolar = 40 crowns). Groups are recommended to make reservations.
