Eurocarnival to welcome more than 1,000 Musicians
19 January 2010 -The one-week Eurocarnival 2010 (Jan. 15th to 23rd) will make Prague more colourful than is usual for the month of January.

Jugglers on Old Town Square
The carnival offers good food, drink and entertainment at three venues – Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square and, new this year, Náměstí Republiky. During Eurocarnival, all three venues are transformed into a fairgrounds. Musical and dance groups, groups of masks and clowns and jesters, most of them coming from Germany and Italy, will perform on all three squares from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd January. The event is held every year in a different European city. Previous venues include Paris, Rome, Berlin and Venice. The festival was last in Prague four years ago.
Once more, Praguers will have the opportunity to admire beautiful and frequently strange costumes and to dance to the rhythm of the carnival,” said Libor Votruba from Taiko Company, which organizes the carnival.
The sumptuous costumes will also be presented at Saturday’s mask parade. The procession will set off on 23rd January at 2 p.m. from Hradčanské náměstí and will follow the Royal Way towards Old Town Square. “I invite everyone to brave the weather and come to have some fun. Around 4 p.m., when all the groups and ensembles arrive at Old Town Hall, there will be joint musical performances and dancing. You can also hear the most famous Czech polka song, Škoda Lásky (Roll Out the Barrel),” said Henri Morstyn, the carnival’s Programme Manager.
