In the UK, car boot sales are a weekly occurence and in the United States every weekend brings a "Yard Sale" or "Garage Sale" to the neighborhood as folks go through their homes and realize they have way too much stuff. And the rest of us descend on their stuff with glee!
The Expat Market brings these great traditions to Prague and offers members of the expat community the chance to buy stuff for their home or to sell things that are cluttering up their basement.
Entry to the market is only CZK 20 and all proceeds from the entrace and stall fees go to our charity partners. If you are interested in selling stuff, you can buy a pre-registered stall at the event for only CZK 200 or pay CZK 300 on the day without registration (proceeds also go to charity) but you get to keep any money you make by selling your items. The expat market is a fun day event which brings together buyers and sellers from all over the community. Sellers display their items from behind their parked cars and wait for buyers, who roam from car to car, inspecting goods and asking questions. It's a lot of fun - you can haggle for a fair price and sometimes walk away with the thing you always wanted - or the thing you never realized you wanted. But always a bargain. All participation fees paid go the Sue Ryder Home and the Fund for Children in Need (FOD).
Family fun will include face painting, a bouncy castle and refreshments & snacks.
