John Eliot Gardiner, Pierre Boulez, Anouschka Shankar and many others at the 2010 Prague Spring
February 2, 2010 - Tickets are now on sale for the 65th Prague Spring festival of classical music. This must-see event for music lovers takes place May 12 to June 4.
On May 9, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and his English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir will offer an appetizer in the form Bach's Mass in B minor.
The festival will be officially opened with Smetana's My Country, performed by the Prague Philharmonia under the direction of its new chief conductor, Jakub Hrůša.
Famous conductor, composer and pianist André Previn will make his first appearance in Prague with two performances: as piano soloist on May 28 and as conductor and composer (the Czech premiere of Diversions) on June 3 with the Czech Philharmonic.
Also, returning to Prague after five years is the beautiful Anoushka Shankar (daughter of famous sitarist Ravi Shankar and half-sister of Norah Jones), who will peform the sitar on May 24.
