National Museum offers guided tours of the former Radio Free Europe building

October 2009 - In August, the National Museum opened the former Radio Free Europe Building (and before that, the building of the Federal Parliament) to the public.  On November 17, the 20th anniversary of the overthrow of the communist regime, the new building will open the exhibit "Be Free," dedicated to the struggle for freedom.

The museum offers guided tours through this important building, which has played a significant role in recent Czech and Czechoslovak history. The tour will show many interesting locations in the building, which was visited by world leaders such as Margaret Thatcher, Francois Mitterand, George H. W. Bush and Queen Elisabeth II. The tour is in Czech, but visitors can borrow an English-language audioguide at the cash-desk for free. Following renovations in 2011/12, the National Museum plans to turn the building into a unique museum and cultural complex.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 – 18:00
  • Tour duration: max. 60 minutes
  • Tour starts: Saturday, Sunday, National holidays - every 30 minutes, Monday-Friday - every hour
  • Admission fee for guided tour: Basic CZK 80
  • Reduced: CZK 40 (children/students/seniors)
