La Idea was founded in 1995. What started as a casual union of professional musicians has turned into a group of eleven official members, with six of the original members still performing with the group today.
The band's intoxicating performances at hotels, bars and Carneval are always the subject of conversation for days afterwards. The band is committed to playing traditional Cuban music, but has expanded its repertoire to include a thrilling mixture of Son and Salsa American.
