The Golden Lane will be closed from May 1, 2010 for an extensive reconstruction of the pavement and historical houses. Poor drainage casuses rainwater to seep into the houses' foundations, affects their structural integrity.
The closure will last around one year, with the actual duration depending archeological research that will be performed in conjuction with construction works.
After being renovated, the area will house a new permanent exhibition documenting life here from 1600 to 1956.
