Prague, Paris to be linked by pan-European cycle route

February 2008 - A cycle route will link Prague with Paris and a number of areas attractive for tourists in central Germany and central France. The 1537-kilometre corridor leads bikers to hundreds of sights in the area, it added.

The route officially starts at Gare de l'Est in Paris and ends in Prague. In Germany, the cyclists are

offered a visit to Nuremberg, the "Castle road" near Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the medieval university town of Heidelberg and further sights.

The route reaches France in Strasbourg across the Rhine River. It continues past Nancy, Champagne and Reims and ends in Paris. The idea of creating a cycling corridor between the Czech Republic to France across Germany was born in 2001.

The route that basically follows the favourite route of 14-century Roman Emperor and Bohemian King Charles IV. is denoted by the usual signs along with a blue-yellow logo of the Pan-European Movement.
