Easter markets                                                            This weekend, Prague's Easter markets will be making their annual appearance on squares throughout town. As always, you will encounter stands selling Easter goods on Old Town Square and Wenceslaus Square, at both locations until April 11. An interesting cultural program awaits you. Old Town Square will come alive with the sound of traditional music, folk customs and dance. Children will have fun at workshops where they will learn how to paint Easter eggs.

Elsewhere, the town of Znojmo will be celebrating the arrival of spring from March 29 to April 4 with Easter markets featuring artisans, cultural events and children's events. The little one's will also surely enjoy a sightseeing tour of the catacombs under town.

Český Krumlov's Easter markets will take place from April 1 to 5, and like every year, the program will include a performance of the Passion Play in the monastery gardens.

Matějská pouť

Until April 18 at Prague's fairgrounds (Výstaviště) in Prague 7, you can attend an annual tradition - the spring funfair dedicated to St. Matthew. The fair features shooting galleries, cotton candy, rides, music and numerous other attractions.

Orchid expo

The nice weather is also a perfect time to explore the botanical gardens in Prague's Troja district. This weekend is the last chance to see the gardens' amazing indoor exhibition of orchids in the Fata Morgana greenhouse. In addition, entry to the botanical garden's outdoor exhibit is free until March 31. The gardens can be reached by taking bus 112 from the Nádraží Holešovice metro station to "Zoologická zahrada" and then continuing by foot or transferring to bus 236. The zoo, by the way, also makes a good sunny-day destination, especially with children.
