St. Wenceslas at the National Museum
April 6, 2010 - In one of the last exhibits before closing for renovation, the National Museum is presenting the life of St. Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia, through manuscripts and artifacts.

Silver-plated reliquary in the form of a bust of St. Wenceslas.
Most English-speakers know St. Wenceslas from the Christmas carol “Good King Wenceslas”, although that is perhaps all they have heard from him until visiting his homeland. His equestrian statue adorns the top end of the square bearing his name, and many Praguers, when meeting friends, say they will wait "under the tail".
Until May 2, the National Museum will present Wenceslas as both saint ad sovereign. Illuminated manuscripts, reliquaries, and other rare items will be on display. The perfect opporunity to learn more about this important figure in Czech history. More information here.
