The light of Bethlehem comes to the Czech Republic
December 14, 2010 -Brno's boy scouts have brought the light of Bethlehem to the Czech Republic. Last weekend, they began traveling across the country with a flame blessed by the pope, which they took over at the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Vienna, Austria.
The only problem encountered by the scouts on this traditional Advent tour took place in Austria, when a train conductor did not look too kindly on the idea of transporting a flame on board the train. After some explaining, the young scouts succeeded in bringing the flame to the Czech Republic.
On Sunday, they entrusted the flame to the Bishop of Brno. In Brno, the light of Bethlehem will be presented on December 23 at the city's town hall. Praguers can se the flame and light their own torch or candle on December 18 on Old Town Square, in the small park behind Old Town Hall from 1 to 6pm.
