Welcome in the spring in the Czech Republic!
February 2008 - What is Easter like in the Czech Republic you may ask? Especially colourful. After the grey days of winter it comes as a pleasant change: coloured eggs gleaming in a basket, springtime blossoms in a vase and green wheat sprouting in a plant pot. Add to this fragrant Easter sweets and some playful Easter traditions, and you have yourself a great way of celebrating Easter, which this year falls on 23rd and 24th March.

The largest Easter fairs take place on the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square in Prague . From 8th until 30th March 2008 these locations will be occupied by an Easter settlement with tens of stalls. For browsers, the types of goods they’ll be selling will shed some light on Easter traditions in this country: you can taste traditional goodies such as special cakes and gingerbreads or search for some decorations that will bring springtime into your home. You can also look forward to craft demonstrations such as egg painting and Easter whip weaving. And, of course, everything you see made there can be purchased. Get into the Easter mood at markets in:
