Winter is coming - plan your ski holiday now!

November 2009 - The Czech Republic is a true skiers paradise. Since the country is surrounded by mountains, the country's border regions offer excellent skiing - downhill or crosscountry. The Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), the Eagle Mountains (Orlické hory), and the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) offer tons of skiing options. And if you get too chilled to the bone, why not pop by one of the country's spa towns for an "apres-ski" treat.

A Tout Prague offers reviews and summaries of the country's various ski regions and resorts. A general introduction can be found here, or check out our family winter holiday guide, our cross-country guide, and our snowboarding guide.

Of the many ski resorts in the Czech Republic, worth mentioning are the Skiregion combining several resorts in the Giant Mountains (home to the Krkonoše National Park) and the Jizera Mountains (with the nearby town of Liberec offering an excellent combination of skiing and non-skiing attractions); also check out the Eagle Mountains or Šumava, where the little town of Kvilda is a center of cross-country skiing, and the area around Lipno reservoir offers numerous skiing options.
