A "forest" in Vršovice: Cafe v lese
Vršovice is one of those neighborhoods few tourists visit, making it all the more a reflection the "real" Prague. It isn't exactly in the boondocks (Vinohrady is just next door), but may well be the next "in" neighborhood.
Cafe v lese sits on a small, almost forgotten street (there's not many other shops around) just around the corner from Café Sladkovský. It's name means "Cafe in the Woods", but that is more an ironic moniker, considering the fact that this is a decidedly urban neighborhood.
Located in what used to the Shakespeare and Sons bookshop and cafe (apparently, not enough English-speaking expats came out this way), it has kept some of its predecessors 1970s-style decor and its relaxed atmosphere.
The cafe draws a diverse, young, and vaguely alternative crowd with various events such as concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, and more.
