A cross-country paradise

The Czech Republic is one of the top countries in the world when it comes to cross-country skiing trails. All of the country's trails are well signposted and regularly maintained.
Cross country skiing is extremely popular in the Czech Republic, something you can see for yourself if you head to the mountains in winter. The Krkonoše mountains, for example, have over 550km of well marked cross-country trails, many of which connect with the Trans-Krkonoše trail.
Another popular cross-country skiing destination are the Jizera Mountains with around 115km of trails known as the Jizerská Trai. One important annual event is the 50km Jizerská padesátka, which attracts skiers from around the world.
There are over 100km of cross-country trails in the Beskydy Mountains. These include the Lysohorská Trail, trails around Pustevny and traverse routes in the Těšínské Beskydy range. Nové Město na Moravě in the Žďárské Hills is mostly famous for the Golden Ski Race.
Not to be outdone, South Bohemia's Šumava range is a popular destination as well, with many well-maintained trails. One centre of skiing is the town of Kvilda.
