Orlík Castle

Built in the thirteenth-century on 60-meter high cliff, Orlík Castle dominates the Vltava River valley. Today, however, the castle doesn't soar nearly as high over the river - since the Vltava was damned during the last century, Orlík has sat on the largest artificial lake in the Czech Republic.
Orlík Castle has long belonged to the Schwarzenbergs, an influential family during the reign of the Habsburgs. Today, the castle museum houses the personal collection of this noble family. The arms room has an exceptionally beautiful interior.
The castle is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 6pm (June, July and August), 9 am to 4 pm (April, October and November), or 9 am to 5 pm (May and September).
